The Secret Room

Imagine there was a secret room in which you could enter and no one, including God, could see, hear or know what you did within its walls. Behind the covering of these walls existed your favorite sin. You could indulge in this sin with no fear of consequence during your time there as well as once you left. Would you choose to enter this room?

The Blessing of the Thorn

I realized throughout these interactions that the church had a problem and we weren’t dealing with it. Probably, the most beneficial thing I did was to listen to these brothers and sisters in Christ that were in the struggle. Since that time in the early 90’s I have listened to hundreds of stories from Christian sex addicts. These were not short stories but long stories that in some cases took days to tell.My hope is that, as a body of believers, we might better understand this assault from the enemy and stop shooting our sexually wounded or in some cases ignoring their plight.

Blinded by the eclipse

How was this small moon able to conduct such a powerful feat? Even though it is 400 times smaller than the sun, it is 400 times closer to the earth. This fact is true about most anything in our lives. The things which we draw closest to us are the things that garnish the most attention and tend to block other more significant items.

Repeated burns

You see pain doesn’t produce change. It only gets our attention. The pain only informs us “Hey, what you are doing is not working. You are in rebellion to God and rebellion causes pain. The goal is not to figure out a way to avoid pain. The goal is obedience and to submit our rebellious nature to the Lord.

Fight Club

Just as in Fight Club, sexual sin produces a double-minded person. One seeks to serve the Lord while the other rebels and wants no constraints. In the war against sexual sin, we must come together and form a Christian version of fight club.

Attack of the armyworms

Attack of the armyworms Joel 2:25 (NKJV) “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, my great army which I sent among you. “I’m sorry we have completely sold out of that pesticide.” This is not what the farmer […]

The Josh Duggar Effect- Trapped by your “Testimony”

Our testimony is never a statement about us but always about Jesus. It should never define us, control us or eliminate grace from our lives. When our past “testimony” controls our ability to be honest and makes our Christian walk a façade, then we are no longer walking by faith but by fear and the approval of others.

There is a Dead Fish on my Wall

Marriages that carry the secrets of sexual sin only become sicker and eventually terminal. We fear sharing these secret struggles because others will smell the stink and mess of my sin and we all know nobody likes messy and smelly situations in the church. Unlike my dead fish, marriages can truly be made anew and alive again but only if we take the right steps.

God being God

We often through various means try to place constraints and limits upon God’s behavior. God will not respond nor will He respect our frail attempts to “box” him in. In other words, sometimes God acts like Manny Ramirez and does things that can only be explained as “God being God.”

Breaking the Cycle

I had to face the harsh reality that even though I always felt bad about my sin, I still enjoyed it and I “protected” my sin. The fact is, I was unable to stop my sex sin cycle and I was unable to change. Only GOD was able to change me. But in order for that to happen, I had to get out of His way.
