Let Jesus be your husband

Let Jesus be your husband:

1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NKJV) For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;

Let me state the obvious. I have never been a female and my wife reminds me if I was I would make a very poor one. I’m never sure if that’s a compliment or an insult. I have, however, listened to the heartbreaking stories of many a wife who was betrayed by the man they loved through his obsession with sexual sin. Prior to the betrayal, many believed they had found the perfect husband whom they had dreamed of and prayed for since they were very young. During their dating years he appeared as a prince charming who seemed to know and anticipate her every need. This level of betrayal comes from a place of knowing that her husband gave away part of his mind, energy, focus, attention and sometimes his body that belonged only to her. It is even more heart breaking when she realizes he gave it away to a fantasy world of which she could measure up. God designed her to have a yearning for her husband and now he had abused her devotion and love. The truth of the matter is there is no prince charming or perfect husband. At least not one that is a son of Adam. The only perfect husband is Jesus. We are to be His bride and He is the bridegroom. If you are struggling with the void and emptiness created by your flawed earthly husband, then set your desires upon the perfect husband. Open your bruised and empty heart and allow yourself to be filled with the living water perfect and unfailing love of the Bridegroom. He will never leave you nor betray you.
