Learning from failures

Genesis 14:11-1211 Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. 12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. (NKJV)

Living in an exceedingly wicked place cost Lot everything but his life. You would think if you lost everything you might do something different or go in a different direction. Lot did not. Following his rescue by his uncle, he returned to Sodom and his old lifestyle. We live in a sexually fallen world and you will slip, slide and fall in your pursuit of purity and holiness. Restoration means we can be forgiven for this sin through the acknowledgement and confessing of this sin. Repentance means we turn away from an old pattern or behavior and go in a new direction with a new mindset. Seek accountability to keep from returning to the sin because your old nature will desire it again once the pain of your fall subsides. Failures are opportunities for our self-reliance to decrease and our God reliance to increase. They are opportunities to grow in our understanding of His grace mercy and forgiveness.
